Meet the Sun Valley Artists

My name is
Saviour Omondi Juma

A Kenyan mixed media artist, born and raised in Kibera slums. He started his art journey in 2009 and discovered the use of recycled materials in late 2014. His artwork portrays the beauty of African people's faces and their traditions, the way of living in Africa and survival in the slums. He is the founder of the Sun Valley collective, a collective that empowers and educate people in Kibera through art and which is inspired by the artists* immediate environment. They channel their inspiration through drawings, paintings, wood caving and metal work using reclaimed materials. The group is made up of §feen teenage artists from Kibera who share skills between each other, which range from murals to repurposed metal works and paintings. Saviour also works to pass on his art skills by teaching art to children between 5 to 12 years old from the local community. As a collective, they were able to express their individuality through their work but also their feelings to the community through the art.

“Let the magic of art breathe new life into you.” -Saviour Omondi Juma
